I Love You, AND I Like You

John and Julie Gottman are the gurus of Couples Counseling. I had the honor of meeting them in July of 2018 in Chicago at Gottman Level 1 Training. I cannot even put into words how much it meant to me to see John and Julie live what they teach. To see them interact with one another in between sessions was just as inspirational as learning the Gottman Method.

Recently, in their podcast 'Small Things Often' (I recommend!), the author identified the importance of not only telling our partner "I love you", but to also add "I like you".

When was the last time you told your partner you like him/her? ❤️🤩

Do you remember the early days of your relationship? You fell in LIKE before you fell in LOVE. Do you remember what you like about your partner?

I recommend the Gottman Card Decks app for your phone. It's a great tool for getting to know each other all over again, or finding back those old great memories and feelings.

So, this Valentine's Day, don't forget to tell your partner/parent/child/friend you LOVE them! But also tell them you LIKE them! See what kind of looks you get from them, and then be playful with it.

Stay brave,
